Obituary for Jessie Wilma Hoffman

Jessie (Richey) Hoffman, 97, of Burlington, NC, formerly of Ramey, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Twin Lakes Healthcare, Burlington.

Born on May 12, 1918 in Coraopolis, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ottis and Pearl (Heidler) Richey.

On March 30, 1940 she married John M. “Pen” Hoffman in Wellsburg, WV.

She was a member of Ramey United Methodist Church, where she was a past President of the United Methodist Women and a Sunday School teacher. She was a local precinct worker during elections, and she planned and stitched a Bi-Centennial quilt which was given to the White House in 1976. Jessie was a member of the Order of Easter Star for over 50 years.

Jessie is survived by two daughters, Virginia Dziadosz of North Carolina, and Kathleen Walker of Oregon. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hoffman, a daughter Joyce Hoffman, and a sister, Verne Ammon.

Family will receive friends Thursday from 11am-12pm at Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation, Ramey. Private graveside services will follow.
