Joseph W. Evcic



Joseph W. Evcic, 65 of DuBois, PA passed away at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, November 6, 2011 at his residence after a years bout with cancer.

Born, July 22, 1946 in Ramey, he was a son of the late Joseph & Margaret (Rusnak) Evcic. He was a former member of Eagles Post #812, Clearfield where he served as secretary for 9 years. He worked as a broadcaster in the late 60's for several radio stations in the area and was known as "Joey Roberts". Joe retired in 1993 from Penn DOT after 21 years of employment.

He was affectionately known as "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren.

On October 10, 1987, he wed Nancy (Ardery) Hull in St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield. She survives at their residence in DuBois. Joe is survived by a brother, Michael Evcic and his wife Cindy of State College; four children, James Hull and his wife Terri of Lorton, Virginia, Roger Hull and his wife Barb of Grampian, Dawn Vargo and her companion John of DuBois, and Maureen Pentz and her husband Doug of Curwensville. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Daniel, Brandon, Avery and Nakita Hull; Ana & Trinity Murray and Jake & Cheyenne Pentz. He is also survived by three nieces, Taylor, Sarah and Anne Evcic.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents.

He enjoyed reading newspapers, listening to the radio and watching sports on TV. He resided in Montana for three years and loved the mountains. He also lived in Wisconsin for 11 years, where he loved watching wildlife.

Friends will be received at the Kruise Funeral Homes, Inc., Ramey on Wed., November 9, from 11-2 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Fr. Zab Amar officiating.
