Obituary for Virginia Twigg (Stiles)

R. Virginia (Stiles) Twigg



R. Virginia (Stiles) Twigg, 95, of Smokerun, passed away at 12:47 AM, Thursday, September 26, 2013 at her residence.

Virginia was born on July 19, 1918, in Gulich Township, a daughter of the late Thomas D. and Eleanor C. (Hartline) Stiles. She graduated from the former Beccaria Township High School in 1936 and was a life long member of the Smokerun United Methodist Church.

On July 30, 1940 at Winchester, VA she married William "Jack" Twigg, Jr , he preceded her in death on May 4, 1992.



Virginia was a homemaker and along with her late husband, was owner and operator of Twigg's General Store, Smokerun from 1955 until 2005.

She was a member of the Tyrone Chapter of the Eastern Star and was a past member of the Mt. Pleasant Grange

Virginia is survived by three sons and a daughter; William Twigg and his wife Beverly; Arthur "Jack" Twigg and his wife Carol and Cathy Lebda and her husband John all of Smokerun and Roger Twigg and his wife Nadine of Madera.



She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Zimmerman of Johnstown and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Russell, Monroe, Stacy, Arthur and Kenneth Stiles; 4 sisters, Thelma Shimmel, Olean Glosek, Mary Glasgow and Elaine Turnbull and two infant siblings.

Virginia enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers and especially enjoyed working in her store and her customers.

Friends will be received on Sunday, Sept. 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Monday, Sept. 30 from 9-10 AM at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc Madera.



Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Sept. 30 at 10:00 AM in the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc Madera, with Virginia's nephew, Rev. James Morris officiating.

Graveside Services will follow in the Hegarty's Crossroads Cemetery, Beccaria Twp. Memorial donations may be made to the Clearfield Hospital Hospice or to Clearfield County Meals on Wheels Program. Condolences may be sent to: condolences@kruisefuneralhome.com
