Obituary for Jean Camberg

Jean (Bergh) Camberg, 67, of Brisbin, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at her home under the care of hospice.

Born on September 7, 1949 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Flora (Scrano) Bergh.

Jean was a 1968 graduate of Moshannon Valley High School, attained her Bachelor of Science at Penn State in 1971, received her Masters of Social Work from Marywood College in 1984, and was presented her Doctor of Education from Penn State in 2015.

A compassionate and caring person, she dedicated her life to helping others. Throughout her 40+ years in social work, she touched countless lives. The final years of her career were spent as a licensed clinical social worker and registered play therapist in private practice in Clearfield and beloved professor of Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State Altoona.

She was a member of various organizations and boards. She was a member of St. Barbara PNCC, and served as organist for over 20 years. She loved animals, scrapbooking, crafting, music, and her family.

She is survived by her loving husband Harold “Howie” Camberg, whom she married on October 9, 1971; her daughter Laura Pushcar, and her husband Mark of Pittsburgh; and a grandson, Pierce Pushcar.

She is also survived by a brother-in-law Dave Camberg, and his wife Kathy, three nieces, Theresa (Andy) Mast, Carol (Brian) Mynatt, Dana (Matt) Bellela, a great-niece, Ava, and numerous cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunts and uncles.

Family will receive friends 3-7 PM Saturday and Sunday in Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Madera. A Vigil Service will be held Sunday at 4 PM.

Prayers of transfer will be said Monday at 10:15 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Barbara’s Polish National Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with Father Scott Lill as celebrant. Interment will follow in Brisbin I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Houtzdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Barbara’s PNCC, 76 Emery Ave., Houtzdale, PA 16651, and the Penn St. Aumni Asoociation, Hintz Family Alumni Center, University Park, PA 16802.
