Obituary for Julia Ann Harchak
Julia Ann (Bacher) Harchak, 97, of Houtzdale, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center.
Born on September 17, 1918 in Beulah, she was the daughter of the late Tony and Annie (Hensal) Bacher.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She loved baking and cooking, and enjoyed being a devoted wife and mother. She made her house a home.
She married John Harchak on March 2, 1935 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Houtzdale. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2009.
She will be sadly missed by three daughters, Peggy Harrington, of Niagara Falls, NY, Dorothy Swanson of Costa Mesa, CA, Cecilia (David) Houser of Woodward; one son, John T. (Gladys Knepp) Harchak of Houtzdale; one sister, Helen Kline of MD; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Madeline Solas, and two brothers, John and Walter Bacher.
Friends will be received 4-7 PM Tuesday and 8:30-9:30 AM Wednesday at Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Ramey. The Altar Rosary Society will pray the Rosary Tuesday at 4:30.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Wednesday at Christ the King Parish, Houtzdale. Fr. Marc J. Solomon will be celebrant. Interment will be private in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Houtzdale.
