Obituary for Alexander F Nesaw

Alexander F. "Alex" Nesaw, Jr


Alexander F. "Alex" Nesaw, Jr, 90, of Ginter, PA died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Sewickley Valley Hospital, Sewickley, PA.

Alex was born on Aug. 28, 1922 at Atlantic, RD Houtzdale, a son of the late Alexander and Julia M. (Carlens) Nesaw.

He was a 1941 graduate of the Madera High School and was a parishioner of the First United Methodist Church, Houtzdale.

Alex served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was awarded 5 bronze stars. He served with the 473rd Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion as a Radioman in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.

Alex retired in 1980 from Transport Motor Express of Pittsburgh after 34 years as a semi tractor trailer driver.

He was a member of the Stephen Kandrach VFW Post 6321, Janesville, where he was a past commander for 4 years and held various other offices; he was a member of the American Legion Freeberg Post #591, Houtzdale; the Pleasant Hills-Guthrie Lodge #509 F & A M, Pleasant Hills, PA since 1959; he was 32nd degree Rite Mason; he was member of the Jaffa Mosque, Altoona where he was a greeter; and a member of the Teamster Local # 249 since 1949.

On May 2, 1942, in Winchester, VA, Alex married his childhood sweetheart, Bette M. (Capatch) Nesaw. Bette preceded him in death on June 26, 2012. Alex is survived by a son; Douglas Nesaw and his wife Florence of Sewickley; a daughter, Joyce Nesaw and her fiance, Steve Stapel of Sewickley; and a daughter-in-law, Anita Nesaw of Glenshaw..



He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and five great - grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Radzyminsky of Lancaster, NY and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Alex was preceded in death by a son, Gary Francis Nesaw on Aug. 20, 2004.



Alex was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Friends will be received on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 from 1-3 PM at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc, Ramey.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 6, 2013 in the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc, Ramey with Rev. Robert Ford officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home, following the services, by the Stephen Kandrach VFW and the Houtzdale American Legion.

Entombment will be in Mount Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw, PA. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 811 Clara St Houtzdale, PA 16651. Condolences may be sent to condolences@kruisefuneralhome.com.
