Obituary for Earl L Lender

Earl L. Lender


Earl L. Lender, 86, of Smithmill, passed away on Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 at 10:12 PM at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care, Altoona.

Earl was born on Aug. 21, 1928 in Utahville, a son of the late John C. and Ettie (Davis) Lender.

He was a graduate of the former Beccaria Twp. High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Janesville VFW Stephen Kandrach Post 6321 and the Clearfield Eagles.

Earl was a truck driver, he owned his own truck and also worked for Reese Brothers of Houtzdale. He later worked for the Fullington Bus Co. of Clearfield.

On Aug. 3, 1951 in St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, Coalport, Earl married Dolores Marie (Jeffries) Lender who survives of Smithmill.

Earl is survived by three sons Terry P. (Linda) Lender of Irvona; John E. Lender of Leesburg, FL; Dan M. (Amy) Lender of Reston, VA and a daughter-in-law, Carol Lender of Plant City, FL. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by a son, Gary F. Lender; four siblings, Clifford "Snuffy" Lender, Mary Ireland, George Lender and Nora Lender.

Earl enjoyed gardening, lawn work, and hunting and especially enjoyed his family. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate Fan.

Friends will be received on Friday, Oct. 10 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 9-10 AM at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc Ramey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, Coalport on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Zab Amar as celebrant.

Interment will follow in the Utahville Cemetery, Beccaria Twp. with military honors being accord by the Janesville VFW Post 6321. Condolences may be sent to: condolences@kruisefuneralhome.com.
