Thomas A. Golias


Thomas A. Golias, 96, formerly of Chesterfield, passed away on Wed., April 2, 2014 at 8:15 AM at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.

He was born on July 6, 1917 in Chesterfield, a son of the late Wendell and Mary (Poshedly) Golias.

Thomas served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II, he received the American Defense Service Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with one Bronze Bar, and Good Conduct Medal.

Thomas was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Master Degree in English and College Law.

He is survived by his brothers, Alfred Golias of Parma, OH, Bernard (Phyllis) Golias of Hinckley, OH, Wendell Golias of San Antonio, TX ; a sister, Mary Rita Diaz of Altoona; a brother-in-law, Herman Kessler of Altoona and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by three brothers, Stephen Golias, Andrew Golias, and Msgr. John Golias; four sisters, Sister Mary Rita, CSA, Helen Martous, Anne Barr and Cecilia Kessler.

Friends will be received on Monday, April 7 from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc Ramey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 7 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey with Fr. Zab Amar as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery with Military Honors being accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
