Ethel M. "Murph" (McMurray) Johnson


Ethel M. "Murph" (McMurray) Johnson, 79, of Madera passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 8:45 PM at her residence.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Madera, PA on November 20, 1928, the daughter of the late Alec and Mary (Johns) McMurray.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Madera. She was a homemaker and was a secretary for the former Maggie McGlynn Yorkshire Mining Co. of Madera. Mrs. Johnson was a 1946 graduate of the former Madera High School and was a licensed airplane pilot.

On Nov. 20, 1953 in the First Lutheran Church of Philipsburg she married Glen Johnson who survives of Madera along with their son, Joseph Johnson of Madera.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by a sister, Jane McMurray.



Friends will be received on Sunday, July 20, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Monday, July 21, from 12 Noon -1:30 PM at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc. Ramey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ The King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, PA, on Monday, July 21st, at 2:00 PM. Fr. Gregory A. Kirsch will be the celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, Houtzdale.
