Frank G. "Dutch" Elling



Frank G."Dutch" Elling, 87, of Beulah, RD Madera, PA , passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009 at 7:45 AM at his residence

Mr. Elling was born on May 19, 1921 in Mahaffey a son of the late Frank C. and Maude (Kitchen) Elling.

He was a 1939 graduate of the Mahaffey High School and served in the U.S. Army during WW II in Central Europe.

Mr. Elling retired as an inspector from Penn Dot. Prior to that he also worked as a coal miner and for the Bell Air Craft of Buffalo, NY and Piper Air Craft of Lock Haven.

He was a member of the Madera United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #515 F & AM , Osceola Mills; Jaffa Shrine of Altoona; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Altoona; VFW Post #6321 Smithmill; American Legion Freeberg Post #591, Houtzdale; and Moshannon Valley Knights Booster Club.

On Nov. 9, 1943 in Cumberland , Maryland he married Mabel L. Leaper Elling who survives in Beulah, RD Madera.

Mr. Elling is survived by three children; Thomas E. Elling and his wife Barbara of Lock Haven; Mary Jo Campolong of Duncansville; and Carol A. Mihalko and her husband James of Beulah, RD Madera, PA.

He is also survived by ten grandchildren; Roger Elling, Michelle Spedding and her husband William, Daniel Elling and his wife Monique, Joe Campolong III and his wife Lynne, Pamela Schobel and her husband Jolan, Holly Reid and her husband Jeffrey, Timothy Campolong, James Mihalko, Jr., Melissa Shetrom and her husband Timothy, Douglas F. Mihalko and his wife Laura. Fourteen great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Elling is survived by a brother and sister; John Elling and his wife Jane and Maxine Straw and her husband James all of Mahaffey, PA.

Along with his parents, Mr. Elling was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Joe Campolong, Jr., two sisters, Mary Stuller and Anna Elling and a brother, Edward Elling.

Friends will be received on Sunday, April 12, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Monday, April 13, from 9-11 AM at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc., Ramey, PA. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home.



Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 13 at 11:00 AM in the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc., Ramey, with Rev. Thomas A. McCoy officiating. Graveside Military Honors will follow in the Beulah Cemetery, Ramey by the American Legion Post 591 and VFW Post 6321
