Katherine C. (Collenich) Onody


Katherine C. (Collenich) Onody, 94 of Port Orange, FL and formerly of Smithmill, PA passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Port Orange, FL.



Katherine was born on January 13, 1918, at Smithmill, PA a daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Pohlid) Kulynych.



Katherine was a parishioner of Holy Dormition Byzantine Catholic Church, Ormond Beach, FL where she was very active in church activities and was a beloved member of the church. Her late husband, Edward was a founding member of the church.

Katherine lived much of her life in the Miami, FL area where she was employed as a hostess and manger in various Miami Beach food service establishments.



She was married to the late Edward Onody who preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1994.



Katherine is survived by five siblings, Petro Kulynych of Wilkesboro, NC; Susan Priest, of Port Orange, FL; Charles Kulynych and his wife Shirley of Thomasville, PA; George Kulynych and his wife Betty of Knoxville, TN and Irene Fisher and her husband Bill of Pittsburgh, PA. Multiple nieces and nephews also survive.



In addition to her parents and husband, Katherine was preceded in death by seven siblings; Anna Sass, Helen Summers, Mary Gabriel, an infant sister and three infant brothers.



Friends will be received on Friday, March 2, from 7-9 PM and on Sat., March 3 from 8:30 - 9:30 AM at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc Ramey. A Parastas services will be sung at 8:30 PM Friday in the funeral home with Fr. Anthony Balistreri.



A Panikhida Service will be held on Sat., March 3 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey, PA, with Fr. Anthony Balistreri officiating.



Interment will follow in St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Ramey, PA next to her beloved husband.
