Betty W. (Brothers) Tobias


Betty W. (Brothers) Tobias, 91, of Erhard, RD Madera, passed away at 5:18 PM, Friday, May 30, 2014 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

Betty was born on July 3, 1922, in Barnesboro, a daughter of the late Charles M. and Goldie (Rice) Brothers.

She was a member of the Fruit Hill Presbyterian Church where she a former Treasurer of the Mountain Top Larger Parish for 30 years. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 25 years and was bookkeeper and co- owner of Tobias Garage in Erhard.

Betty was a former member of the Clearfield Chapter of the Eastern Star, a 1940 graduated of the Cherry Tree High School and 1943 graduate of the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing.

On Nov. 22, 1945, in Cleveland, OH, Betty married Clifford L. Tobias, he preceded her in death on March 26, 2013.

Betty is survived by two sisters and three brothers; Mildred Hoffower of Emporium; C. William Brothers (Nancy) of Mifflintown; Robert Brothers of Madera; Dorothy Olson of Junction City, Kansas and Sam Brothers (Jane) of Westover. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by an infant sister.



Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 3 from 11: 00 AM -12 Noon at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc, Madera.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 3 at 12 Noon in the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc Madera, with Commissioned Lay Pastor Leanne M. Gill Peters officiating.

Interment will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery , Ansonville. Memorial donations may be made to the Fruit Hill Cemetery Chapel c/o Katherine J.
